From algorithms to biomarkers, from mental illness to precision treatment in the clinic – personalised medicine is not a single discipline but a fusion of many.
That’s why the Personalised Medicine Network is returning with the 2nd International Moesgaard Conference on Personalised Medicine, once again presenting a programme that is broad in scope, deep in content, and designed to build bridges across disciplines.
International names and Danish roots
The conference brings together leading international researchers and prominent Danish profiles in neuroscience, metabolic diseases, cancer, bioinformatics, mental illness, and new treatment approaches. Keynote speakers include:
- Sergiu Pasca, Professor, Stanford University
- Naomi Wray, Professor, University of Oxford
- Ewan Pearson, Professor, University of Dundee
- Richard Dobson, Professor, King’s College London
The programme also features contributions from universities and hospitals in Aarhus, Odense, and Copenhagen. In addition, there will be poster sessions, flash talks, and networking activities offering participants opportunities to present new research and forge new connections.
“We want to create a meeting point where researchers from across the spectrum of personalised medicine can connect – from basic scientists to clinicians, from bioinformatics to ethics,” says Professor Anders Børglum, Chair of the network’s steering group and part of the conference organising team.
“One of our top priorities is to involve junior researchers both as participants and as active contributors. With the programme we have lined up this year, I can confidently say there is something of value no matter where you are in your career,” he adds.
From idea to recurring conference
The conference is organised by a national committee with representatives from universities and university hospitals in Copenhagen, Odense, Aalborg, and the steering group behind the Personalised Medicine Network in Aarhus. It is co-funded by the Lundbeck Foundation and the Danish Data Science Academy. Even before the first conference took place in 2023, it was clear to the steering group that this would not be a one-off event.
“We were overwhelmed by the reception two years ago – from both participants and speakers,” says Anders Børglum.
“That’s why it’s a great pleasure to be able to repeat the success and even raise our ambitions further this time. This is very much thanks to the strong organising committee and a steering group that has put their heart and soul into the project.”
